In a recent move, Xbox Insiders are now able to stream games they own directly from their consoles through Xbox Cloud Gaming, which also includes select titles from the Game Pass library. Although the range of compatible games hasn’t expanded, those with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscriptions now have the opportunity to stream a variety of games on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.
Microsoft continues to enhance Xbox Cloud Gaming for its Insider community. Currently, the streaming feature is available for Insiders in the alpha Skip-Ahead and Alpha preview rings, allowing access to around 50 non-Game Pass titles. This latest development was outlined in a post on Xbox Wire, highlighting that Insiders in these preview groups, spanning 28 countries, can now enjoy streaming owned games not only on Xbox consoles but also on PCs, smartphones, and tablets. It’s important to note that an active Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription is necessary to use this feature.
Interestingly, console streaming wasn’t anticipated until next year, making this a pleasant surprise for many. If you’re trialing this feature, you should notice a cloud gaming badge appear on your compatible games when browsing your library on Xbox consoles. The library presents filter options, allowing you to sort by “Ready to play” and “Cloud gaming” for convenience.
Microsoft has also teased some upcoming features, stating they will soon enable launching games directly from the Store app and allow for streaming within the Xbox app on Windows PCs.
When this streaming feature initially launched last month, Game Pass Ultimate members could stream some owned games using web browsers. Currently, the list of supported games stands at approximately 50, featuring popular titles like Baldur’s Gate 3, Cyberpunk 2077, and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, among others.
We eagerly anticipate the wider rollout of this feature by 2025. What about you? Excited to stream your favorite Xbox Series X|S titles through Xbox Cloud Gaming? Share your thoughts with us in the comments!
