World of Warcraft Classic players have something to look forward to as the Scourge Invasions are confirmed to continue during the Season of Discovery Phase 8. There was some initial confusion about their future due to the event’s absence from some builds in the Public Test Realm (PTR). Thankfully, Josh Greenfield, the senior game producer, took to Bluesky to confirm that the event will stay active.
The Scourge Invasions were initially introduced in Phase 7, allowing players to engage with undead forces and cultists in various locations. These battles not only provide thrilling encounters but also offer valuable gear and items. Unlike the Nightmare Incursions of Phase 3, the Scourge Invasions will continue past their original update. This means the epic showdown in the Naxxramas raid against Kel’thuzad will not mark the end of the event.
The looming absence in PTR builds led to misunderstandings, as players assumed it meant a permanent removal. Greenfield explained that the PTR sometimes runs on different settings, which can temporarily omit certain features. Thus, any missing content there doesn’t necessarily reflect the final product in the live version.
For those excited about the upcoming content in World of Warcraft, marked dates include April 8, when new outdoor activities and profession content launch in New Avalon, and April 10, when the Scarlet Enclave Raid and a Legendary weapon questline become available. Players can dive into these updates after the scheduled maintenance, ready to continue their adventures and take on familiar foes with newly available tools at their disposal.
The decision to maintain the Scourge Invasions is a welcome one, as this activity has become a beloved part of the community’s gameplay experience. And as the Season of Discovery nears its conclusion, retaining such engaging content provides fans with ongoing excitement and challenges. So, players can rest assured that even as new content comes online, the chilling thrill of battling the undead remains part of their WoW Classic journey.
