When it comes to delivering exciting crossovers, few games do it as well as “Dead By Daylight.” The game’s Killers, borrowed from some of the most iconic horror franchises, are crafted with stunning detail and bring fresh twists to the gameplay with their unique perks. While the Survivor-themed crossovers are noteworthy, there’s a special thrill in stalking through the map as the Xenomorph from “Alien” or the ominous Pyramid Head from “Silent Hill.” The game consistently spices things up by adding new Killers, but there’s some unexpected news: Behaviour Interactive has announced that an iconic character will soon be leaving the scene. In just a few weeks, The Cenobite will no longer be available in “Dead By Daylight.”
That’s right, Pinhead from the “Hellraiser” universe is slated to become unavailable for purchase or unlock. The entire collection of “Hellraiser” content is being phased out. Behaviour Interactive explained this move with a statement reflecting the unpredictable nature of maintaining a live service game, hinting at possible licensing issues as the likely reason behind the DLC’s removal.
For those who already have Pinhead or plan to snag him before his departure, don’t worry—you’ll still be able to play as him and access the “Hellraiser” content you’ve purchased. His perks will remain intact with their original names for existing owners. However, if you haven’t unlocked him, you’ll see these perks with new names as they join the general perk roster. This rule also applies to any specific “Hellraiser” achievements.
If you’ve been contemplating adding Pinhead to your Killer lineup, now’s your chance. Behaviour is hosting a “Last Chance” sale with a 50% discount on all “Hellraiser”-related content, including The Chatterer Legendary Outfit, before it’s permanently removed from The Fog.
You have until Friday, April 4th, at 8am PT / 11am ET / 4pm BST / 5pm CEST to unlock Pinhead, also known as The Cenobite, in “Dead By Daylight.”
The news of a crossover character’s removal from DBD is quite unusual and a bit disheartening. While there are plenty of other fantastic characters to play as, and individuals who own Pinhead can continue to enjoy him, it raises concerns about the potential future removal of other beloved characters if similar licensing deals fall through. Since its debut in August 2021, the “Hellraiser” DLC has been a staple for players over the last few years.
