Studio Fizbin, the creative force behind Reignbreaker, is sadly closing its doors later this month. The announcement was made through a statement on their website, as first noted by Game Developer, indicating that the studio will cease operations following the release of their game on March 18th. CEO and founder Alexander Pieper (shown in the image) shared that this tough decision was spurred by Thunderful’s move to significantly cut back on its internal development activities.
Pieper expressed, “The current state of the gaming industry is challenging, and like many exceptional studios these past few months, we’ve been hit hard. In November 2024, our parent company, Thunderful, decided to significantly reduce internal development. This shift, as highlighted by Thunderful’s CEO Martin in the latest quarterly report, impacted our studio as well. Since then, we’ve searched for new opportunities to pursue once Reignbreaker is complete. Regrettably, these projects won’t be advancing, leading us to this difficult conclusion.”
He went on to say, “To our fans, we can’t thank you enough for everything—your purchases, your incredible fan art, insightful comments, honest reviews, unwavering passion, and seemingly endless support.”
“Our gratitude also goes out to our business partners and supporters—Medienboard, the MfG, Creative Europe, and the federal funding agencies—for being there for us.”
“And last but certainly not least, the deepest thanks go to our amazing team—those who remain with us until the end and the numerous others who’ve embarked on new journeys. The essence of Fizbin and its games is rooted in the talents of our team, and it’s you who have turned this into an inspiring place to pull off the hardest magic trick in the world: making games.”
