During a recent interview with the BBC, Roblox CEO Dave Baszucki addressed parental concerns about potential risks on the platform by suggesting that if parents aren’t comfortable, it’s best to steer their kids clear of it.
Baszucki, who co-founded the platform, emphasized his stance by saying, “If you’re not comfortable, don’t let your kids be on Roblox.” It’s an approach that may seem a bit unconventional, but Baszucki stands by the notion that parents know what’s best for their children.
When asked about negative experiences and the presence of bad actors on Roblox, Baszucki was candid about the company’s vigilance. “We at the company believe that even a single negative incident is one too many,” he stated. “We actively monitor for bullying and harassment, applying filters to mitigate these issues. Furthermore, our analysis extends to collaborating with law enforcement when necessary.”
These comments come on the heels of recent reports highlighting misuse of the platform by certain individuals. In response, Roblox has been ramping up its efforts to enhance child safety features, aiming to ease the concerns that many parents have expressed.
