The remake of the action horror game Resident Evil 4 has impressed fans worldwide, selling over 10 million copies so far. Capcom, the game’s publisher, shared this impressive figure on their investor relations page, highlighting the game as the best-selling entry in the Resident Evil series to date.
Released in March 2023, the updated version of Resident Evil 4 manages to retain the charm of the original while introducing fresh gameplay elements. This balance has won over new players and long-time fans alike. Critics and gamers have showered the game with praise, leading to numerous awards and boosting its continued sales.
Capcom also shared that other titles in the series have performed remarkably well. Since its release, Resident Evil 7 (2017) and Resident Evil 2 (2019) have together sold over 15 million copies. Resident Evil Village has surpassed 11 million sales, and the 2020 remake of Resident Evil 3 has exceeded 10 million units sold.
The company attributes this success to their effective strategy of maintaining a strong back catalog. Since its first game launched in 1996, the Resident Evil franchise has sold more than 167 million copies globally.
