Warner Bros has reportedly pulled the plug on an expansion for Hogwarts Legacy. According to a report from Bloomberg, this add-on was supposed to launch alongside a Definitive Edition of the Harry Potter-themed action RPG, promising fresh storylines.
The decision to cancel came down to content volume, which was deemed insufficient for the proposed price point. Originally, Avalanche Software, the developers behind the main game, were collaborating with Rocksteady to bring this expansion to life. Avalanche is also said to be working on a follow-up to the popular title.
Rocksteady, on the other hand, has been in the news due to recent staff reductions. The cuts follow their announcement to wrap up support for the upcoming Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League in 2024.
Warner Bros faced a tough year, acknowledging that their gaming division wasn’t meeting expectations. They even took a significant financial hit, writing off $200 million for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. On top of that, the company shuttered three studios, including Monolith, and its longstanding head, David Haddad, has decided to step down.
