Delays and PlayStation exclusives seem to go hand in hand, like cereal paired perfectly with milk. But there’s often a valid reason behind this trend. Crafting an exceptional video game is no small feat, and these delays usually give developers the breathing room they need to refine their creations. This seems to be the case for the much-anticipated live-service game, Fairgame$, which has reportedly been pushed back to 2026.
Recently, on an episode of Game Mess Decides, Jeff Grubb shared some insights into the situation surrounding Haven Studios’ competitive heist game. Although details remain fuzzy, Grubb mentioned that Fairgame$ isn’t slated for release this year and might not hit the shelves until 2026.
Grubb stated, “No Fairgame$ this year. As far as I’m aware, it has been pushed to 2026.”
The reasons for this delay are still up in the air. However, Grubb’s track record with reliable sources lends some weight to his assertion. Yet, until Haven Studios makes an official announcement, the gaming community will be in suspense about the game’s new launch timeline set for 2026.
Originally unveiled in 2023, Fairgame$ has kept much of its details under wraps since Haven Studios first showcased their new intellectual property. Nonetheless, former GamesIndustry.biz head, Chris Dring, hinted at positive buzz around the PlayStation exclusive during a GI Microcast episode, which has piqued the interest of many.
PlayStation’s venture into live-service games hasn’t been entirely smooth sailing. Although they struck gold with Helldivers 2, the ill-fated hero shooter Concord turned out to be a significant letdown in Sony’s long and storied history. According to Grubb, Concord’s poor reception led to other live service projects being canceled, prompting Sony to reassess and scrutinize every studio’s ongoing projects.
