It seems there’s some buzz around a movie adaptation of the newly-released game, Split Fiction. As reported by Variety, Story Kitchen is gearing up to assemble the crew for this project, including the cast, writers, and director. This production company has quite the track record; they’ve previously been involved in bringing another of Hazelight’s games, It Takes Two, to life on screen with Amazon. They are also working on adaptations for Toejam and Earl, Slime Rancher, and Vampire Survivors.
It sounds like Hollywood heavyweights are already lining up for this one, with offers reportedly flying in from several top-tier studios. Split Fiction itself has made quite an impression since its debut in March, managing to sell a whopping one million copies in just 48 hours and doubling that to two million within the first week. Hazelight expressed their gratitude and excitement on Bluesky after reaching that remarkable milestone, exclaiming, “Holy crap, we’re blown away! Simply amazing. Thank you to all of our new and old fans—we love how excited you are for our game.”
The It Takes Two film is also creating some buzz with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson attached to the project, and the writing is in good hands with Sonic the Hedgehog scribes, Pat Casey and Josh Miller. It’s an exciting time for adaptations, and gamers will surely be eager to see how these beloved titles translate to the big screen.
