Meet the Ravenswatch
In Ravenswatch, players embody fallen heroes inspired by age-old stories, each with a dark twist. Take Scarlet, our rendition of Red Riding Hood, cursed to morph into the wolf at night to combat the Nightmares. There’s also the Pied Piper, who leads an army of rats with his musical talents. From Beowulf and his trusty sword alongside his baby dragon to Mélusine with her fierce water magic, each hero offers a unique toolset against the Nightmares threatening Reverie.
As you start your journey, choose from Scarlet, The Pied Piper, Beowulf, or the Snow Queen, but there are nine distinct characters to discover overall. Unlock these additional heroes throughout your adventure and unravel the mysteries held within them—some secrets only reveal themselves deep in battle!
Who’s Fit for the Ravenswatch?
Selecting a new hero isn’t a decision we take lightly. Each one needs to blend well with the existing lineup. Heroes are the heart of what makes the game tick, and they hold the essence of the gameplay experience.
In creating these characters, we follow four guiding principles:
-
Gameplay-oriented: Each hero should offer a distinct gameplay style, be it ranged, melee, or something unexpected. New heroes must introduce fresh elements to keep the game exciting.
-
Worldwide notoriety: We aim to incorporate heroes from tales known around the world. Globally familiar figures excite players more than obscure ones. We also ensure these heroes fit into the cohesive universe we’ve built, avoiding tales that are either too ancient or too modern in their technological level.
-
Exciting backstory: The richness in storytelling provides a tapestry of ideas for character design. We often draw on pivotal story moments (like the wolf masquerading as Grandma) or iconic items (such as Aladdin’s lamp) to create exciting new heroes. These creative twists make rediscovering each character a thrilling experience.
- Family photo: The ultimate joy lies in seeing a diverse and eclectic cast of heroes standing side by side. This "family photo" keeps us inspired to maintain variety in the lineup!
