Currently, Avowed doesn’t have an official release planned for PlayStation. However, if you’re gaming on a PC, there are mods available that can give you that PlayStation vibe.
It’s easy to suppose that Avowed might eventually make its way to PlayStation. I mean, Xbox boss Phil Spencer often talks about expanding the reach of their games to other platforms. Even Halo is speculated to be on its way to the Nintendo Switch 2. It seems only natural that Avowed could eventually land on PS5, even if it takes another year. Right now, though, it’s an Xbox Series X/S and PC exclusive. Neither option is bad, to be fair, but there’s something about the PlayStation UI that feels just right to me.
Thankfully, when it comes to these situations, I can always rely on the modding community. For instance, there’s already a mod that lets you swap out the game’s controller interface for PlayStation buttons. Need to interact with an object? The square button’s got you covered! Not sure what to press to make a jump? The cross button is your trusty companion (except when you’re tangled up in Kingdom Hearts logic, for reasons I still don’t understand). This neat little mod is crafted by the talented NeuroticNinjah, catering to anyone who prefers using a PlayStation controller on PC or just needs a blend of appliances.
But it doesn’t stop there; modder Chachinito has another treat. They’ve rolled out a mod that swaps Avowed’s splash screen for the PlayStation Studios’ one. Now, while this tweak doesn’t change much in terms of gameplay, it’s a fun nod for those PlayStation fans playing on PC who might feel a tinge of annoyance at this Xbox exclusive scenario. A playful jab sometimes adds a bit of humor to gaming life!
We’ll have to wait and see if Avowed arrives on PlayStation before its DLC or sequel—something the game’s director seems to be mulling over. Given the lengthy development cycles these days, it seems likely enough.
