Pokemon Go has just spiced up its Unova Tour event with an exciting new feature for fans to enjoy.
In a thrilling update, the iconic Pokemon Black 2 and White 2 legends, “White Kyurem” and “Black Kyurem,” are set to make their debut in Pokemon Go. These legendary Ice/Dragon Pokémon are being introduced to celebrate the fifth generation of Pokemon. Initially, they’ll be available at exclusive in-person events happening February 21-23 in Los Angeles and New Taipei City, before being released to a global audience from March 1-2.
For trainers eager to catch these legendary creatures, it won’t be a simple task. Prepare for intense raid battles at the second highest difficulty level, where you’ll need to gather “Volt Fusion Energy” for creating Black Kyurem, or “Blaze Fusion Energy” for crafting White Kyurem. This mechanic might remind seasoned players of last summer’s Pokemon Go Fest, where a similar method was employed to create “Dusk Mane Necrozma” and “Dawn Wings Necrozma.”
To fuse these iconic Pokémon, a Kyurem along with either a Zekrom or a Reshiram will be essential. The Kyurem will determine the resulting Pokémon’s stats and, if they’re shiny. If Kyurem knows the move Glaciate when fused, merging it with Zekrom results in Black Kyurem acquiring “Freeze Shock,” while fusing with Reshiram grants “Ice Burn.” We’ve reached out to Niantic to confirm whether the Kyurem captured during the event will have Glaciate to aid in the fusion process. While event attendees will have early access to this special energy, trainers worldwide can still participate in “remote raids” during the weekend, limited to five times a day. However, the fusion energy is currently exclusive to those attending the events in person.
Furthermore, capturing these legendary Pokémon could give trainers an extra treat: special backgrounds based on themes from Pokemon Black and White. Reshiram will feature a Pokemon Black-themed background, while Zekrom will boast a Pokemon White-themed one. Meanwhile, Kyurem can come with either background option. If you happen to fuse a pair with differing backgrounds, such as combining a Zekrom with a Black-themed Kyurem, it will create an entirely unique third background.
This exciting development adds a deeper layer of strategy and excitement to the Unova Tour event, promising trainers an unforgettable experience as they dive deeper into the world of Pokemon.
