Exciting times for PlayStation enthusiasts and those who love vibrant, imaginative gameplay! Last night, Astro Bot pulled off an impressive win at the BAFTA awards, snagging the coveted Game of the Year trophy. It outshined other remarkable contenders like Helldivers 2 and Balatro to claim this honor.
In addition to this prestigious title, Astro Bot collected several other awards, including those for Audio Achievement, Animation, Family, and Game Design. This adds to its accolades, following its Game of the Year triumph at The Game Awards last year, where it also stood out among numerous strong contenders in what was an extraordinarily competitive 2024.
During the awards ceremony, when team representatives went on stage, Nicolas Doucet took the moment to deliver a heartfelt speech. He expressed gratitude towards the team in Japan, acknowledging their dedication. “A huge thanks to everyone back in Japan,” he shared. “They poured their hearts into this project every single day, not with awards in mind but simply aiming to bring joy to people’s lives.”
Doucet continued by expressing appreciation to key team members, PlayStation, the partners who contributed to Astro Bot, the BAFTA academy, and even the families of the developers. He also acknowledged all the game creators who paved the way for their success.
We’re curious about your thoughts on Astro Bot’s performance at this year’s BAFTAs. Feel free to share your opinions!
