I’ve been hooked on Overwatch 2’s latest mode, Stadium. This mode features up to seven rounds where players can battle it out using a smaller selection of the main Overwatch roster. What makes it stand out? You earn cash during each round that you can use to buy items, giving it a bit of a MOBA feel.
This new setup adds layers of strategy with its unique combination of items and abilities. The third-person gameplay option adds yet another twist, making the game feel refreshingly different and engaging.
If you’re just getting started with Stadium mode, sorting through the extensive list of perks and abilities can be overwhelming. I’ve gone through a range of “best build guides” for Moira and, frankly, found most of them lacking. Let me share my Moira build and some tips that I’ve found work better.
Moira Stadium Build Tips
Moira, known for straddling the line between support and damage dealer, is a favorite for players like me who might not have pinpoint accuracy. Her area-of-effect abilities make her versatile, especially on consoles. This build enhances her strengths, making her both supportive and offensively potent.
The strategy is to unleash Biotic Orbs frequently. Initially, you can deal damage while healing, putting pressure on enemies. As you level up, you can unleash more orbs, dealing significant damage or providing crucial healing, especially in tight maps with narrow paths. It’s incredibly satisfying to barrage enemy DPS and support heroes with multiple orbs and then retreat strategically.
The key items to go for boost Moira’s ability power and increase the range and effectiveness of your orbs. Here’s what I recommend:
Essential Items for Moira
-
Nano Cola: This gives a 20% boost to Ability Power, enhancing both your damage and healing, which is essential for Moira’s playstyle.
-
Smart Orbs: Gains a 5% Ability Power boost, and Biotic Orbs slow down while dealing damage or healing. This is perfect for persistently tracking opponents but requires careful use.
-
Extendrils: Adds 10% Ability Power and extends the range of Biotic Orbs by 30%. More range means more control and impact.
-
Champion’s Kit: Though pricey, it offers a 40% boost to Ability Power. By stacking it, you can achieve up to 100%, which is fantastic for prolonged matches.
- Liquid Nitrogen: Provides a health bonus and an ability power increase while slowing down enemy movement, synergizing perfectly with Smart Orbs for disrupting opponents.
Focusing on these items maximizes the damage and healing potential throughout your matches and supercharges Moira’s ultimate ability. In practice, you can send out multiple orbs, trigger your ultimate, and effectively wipe out opposing teams.
Why Stadium Mode Stands Out
Stadium Mode in Overwatch 2 is a refreshing dose of fun. It cleverly builds on what’s been successful in the past, offering players a chance for greater customization—a feature long promised with the original Story Mode that was unfortunately scrapped.
Balance in this mode is still a work in progress. Some characters, like Moira and Mei, can feel overpowered, while others, such as Ashe, need adjustments. Despite this, it’s clear that Overwatch 2 is still delivering engaging content for its fans nearly ten years after its initial launch.
