It seems the wait for NVIDIA’s anticipated GeForce RTX 5060 series GPUs has just gotten a bit longer. News has surfaced that board partners have been informed about a delay that nudges the release dates back by a few weeks.
Just as excitement builds for the launch of the GeForce RTX 5070, talk about a delay in the RTX 5060 series has emerged. Initially, the buzz was that these GPUs would debut in March, hitting the shelves by April. However, fresh information now suggests that’s not the case, with the launch dates being further postponed.
The reasons for the delay aren’t crystal clear, but Board Channels have confirmed that NVIDIA’s board partners were formally notified. While there’s no official word from NVIDIA yet, it’s plausible this report holds water since NVIDIA has been tight-lipped about the RTX 5060’s release. There were whispers about bugs and supply chain issues possibly causing these setbacks, though NVIDIA hasn’t confirmed these.
Reports indicate that NVIDIA reached out to its AIC partners about the release schedule for the RTX 5060 Ti and RTX 5060 series, advising that both sets of products will see delayed launches. The expectation is for the RTX 5060 Ti 16G and 8G variants to be released sometime in mid-April, whereas the new RTX 5060 models are forecasted for a mid-May rollout. All dates are subject to further updates from NVIDIA.
The chatter now points to a ‘mid-April’ launch for the GeForce RTX 5060 Ti, with the RTX 5060 trailing a month later in ‘mid-May’. It’s anticipated that both versions of the RTX 5060 Ti will make their debut concurrently. However, neither NVIDIA nor its partners have pinned down the exact launch dates.
There’s a possibility that both the RTX 5060 series and AMD’s RX 9060 series might hit the market around the same period. AMD’s lineup is set to feature the RX 9060 XT and RX 9060 cards, available in 8 GB and 16 GB configurations, which directly rival the RTX 5060 Ti’s variants. Although AMD hasn’t announced a precise release date for the RX 9060 series, they’re also rumored to be dropping in the second quarter.
The GeForce RTX 5060 Ti is positioned to succeed the RTX 4060 Ti, boasting 4608 CUDA Cores, 8 or 16 GB of GDDR7 VRAM, and a TDP of 180W. The RTX 5060 is designed to take over from the RTX 4060, featuring 3840 CUDA Cores, 8 GB of GDDR7 VRAM, and a 150W TDP. Interestingly, leaks suggest the RTX 5060 might offer a 12 GB VRAM option, although this hasn’t been officially confirmed. If true, it could give NVIDIA an edge, especially since the RX 9060 is expected to stick with the 8 GB option.
Stay tuned for updates as this story develops and NVIDIA provides further details on these eagerly anticipated releases.
