It’s hard to believe it’s nearly been a month since Monster Hunter Wilds landed on PlayStation 5. Our heartfelt thanks to hunters worldwide for the enthusiastic support. Whether you’re a long-time player or just joining the hunt with Wilds, we trust you’ve been enjoying countless hours of High Rank quests, even after the credits have rolled.
Today, I have some exciting news: we’re pulling back the curtain on the game’s first Free Title Update.
The enchanting Leviathan, Mizutsune, is entering the Wilds.
With its combination of grace and lethal prowess, Mizutsune fights as if it’s performing a delicate dance, using bubbles to disorient its foes. Prepare your gear to face this returning monster, making its debut in Monster Hunter Wilds.
Mizutsune also brings with it stylish new armor sets for both you and your Palico.
We’re adding an eight-star Tempered Mizutsune to the mix, too.
Ready to start the hunt? Head over to Kanya at the Scarlet Forest Base Camp if you’re Hunter Rank (HR) 21 or above.
Arch-tempered Rey Dau is coming to an Event Quest.
Tempered monsters currently pose the greatest challenge in Monster Hunter Wilds, but that’s about to change. With Free Title Update 1, an even more formidable Arch-tempered monster is here to test your mettle. Meet Arch-tempered Rey Dau at HR 50 or above when this beast surfaces in an Event Quest on Tuesday, April 30.
New Rey Dau γ (gamma) and Felyne Rey Dau γ (gamma) gear will be available for crafting once you’ve bested the Arch-tempered Rey Dau.
In the meantime, polish your equipment and sharpen your skills to be ready for the upcoming challenge.
Prepare for another round with Zoh Shia.
The formidable Zoh Shia is making a return in High Rank with Free Title Update 1. Previously a one-and-done fight during the story, this foe is now a repeat customer. Come April 4, for hunters who’ve reached HR 50, a new mission will become available.
Conquer it and access the Zoh Shia quest through the Environment Overview. Zoh Shia might also make a rare appearance in the Wyvern’s Wakening at the Ruins of Wyveria.
And yes, materials from Zoh Shia will allow the creation of new High Rank gear and Palico equipment.
Experience camaraderie in a new venue: The Grand Hub.
Welcome to the Grand Hub—a fresh social spot where hunters can mingle, communicate, and engage in unique activities. This location has been a place of reverence for the people of Suja for generations. At night, you might even hear the Diva sing her offerings.
Fancy a round of bowling? Try your hand at Barrel Bowling, a new mini-game at the Grand Hub. Score based on how well you roll barrel bombs and earn items and pendants for your quests. Play with Barrel Bowling Vouchers obtained through various means, including login bonuses.
The Felynes are eager to whip up delicious meals for you at the Grand Hub. It’s also the perfect spot for chatting with fellow hunters.
Access the Grand Hub at Hunter Rank 16 or higher by having a word with Tetsuzan in Suja, located in the Peaks of Accord.
Once you’ve unlocked it, the Squad Information Counter will shift from Windward Plains Base Camp to the Grand Hub, streamlining your squad management needs.
Race against the clock for the fastest times in the Arena.
Arena Quests make their return to Monster Hunter Wilds. Here, up to two hunters aim to defeat a quest as swiftly as possible with preset gear. Want to see how your time measures up? Consult the world rankings at the Expedition Record Board.
What’s more, engage in Challenge Quests and Free Challenge Quests.
Engage in special, time-limited Event Quests to earn pendants. Everyone wins pendants, but special ones are awarded based on your personal time and global ranking. Like Arena Quests, Challenge Quests involve predetermined gear and are restricted to two hunters. Free Challenge Quests are new to Monster Hunter Wilds and allow up to four players with no restrictions. Both quest types can welcome Support Hunters.
A chance to stylize Alma’s appearance.
You’ll soon be able to alter Alma’s outfit from the camp’s Appearance Menu.
Achieve certain side quests, and you’ll even have the option to change Alma’s glasses.
And there’s a free Alma outfit up for grabs—try it out!
There’s new downloadable content coming your way too.
After Free Title Update 1 releases, Alma’s outfit along with classic Monster Hunter series gestures will be available as free downloads from the PlayStation Store.
Cosmetic DLC Pack 1 will also be available for download upon the release of Free Title Update 1. This paid content is offered to those with the Cosmetic DLC Pass, included in the Premium Deluxe Edition or purchasable separately.
Plan to attend the seasonal event: Festival of Accord: Blossomdance.
From April 23 to May 7, dive into the Festival of Accord: Blossomdance at the Grand Hub. During these seasonal festivities, the ambiance and menus will change, and you’ll have opportunities to snag limited equipment, gestures, and pop-up camp decorations.
That sums up the major highlights of this first Free Title Update. Besides what I’ve covered, the update also includes some fixes and adjustments. We’re planning another update in May, set to feature a collaboration with another Capcom game and additional features.
Expect Free Title Update 2 this summer, and stay tuned for more details coming your way. Until then, enjoy this sneak peek of what’s in store. Happy hunting!
