Minisforum recently introduced its upcoming lineup of products powered by the latest AMD Ryzen processors, turning heads at "Japan IT Spring Week." The spotlight was on exciting innovations like the MoTD and Mini PC, both equipped with the cutting-edge Ryzen 9 9955HX, known as the "Fire Range."
Discovering Minisforum’s Latest AMD Offerings
Minisforum is upping its game with two innovative products featuring the AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX "Fire Range" processor. The showcase included various tech elements like MoTD motherboards, compact Mini PCs, and efficient NAS systems, all poised to harness the power of AMD’s latest offerings.
The F1FGM MoTD Motherboard
First in the lineup is the "F1FGM" motherboard, a fresh addition to Minisforum’s celebrated MoTD series. Designed in a mATX layout, it boasts robust cooling solutions with proper heatsinks strategically placed over VRMs, M.2 slots, the PCH, and includes an IO cover. This model succeeds the popular BD770i and BD790i series, upgrading from the former Dragon Range “Ryzen 7000HX” CPUs to the new Fire Range “Ryzen 9000HX” line.
This motherboard can accommodate the powerful AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX processor, packing 16 cores and 32 threads based on the innovative Zen 5 architecture. It can hit speeds up to 5.4 GHz, boasts 64 MB of L3 cache, and has a base power rating of 55W. The desktop-grade chip, however, can be pushed up to 160W, promising high performance for desktop builders.
Moreover, Minisforum plans to offer additional CPU options like an "X3D" variant. Notably, the board’s VRM sports a 13-phase Duet rail design, paired with 60A SPS power stages to ensure stability. Users can benefit from DDR5 support, with four DIMM slots accommodating a generous 256 GB and fast speeds up to 8000 MT/s. The chipset in play, the X870M, mirrors mobile-grade designs similar to the B850 series. Expansion-wise, the motherboard hosts two PCIe slots and three M.2 slots with one delivering Gen5x4 speeds. Connectivity includes two SATA III ports, USB4, 5GbE LAN, and WiFi 7, along with BIOS DEBUG LEDs for troubleshooting.
The MS-A2 Mini PC
Next up is the MS-A2 Mini PC, a compact yet powerful solution featuring the same Fire Range CPUs. Built as a continuation of the MS-A1 series, the MS-A2 incorporates fresh IO solutions: it includes three M.2 slots, a 10 GbE LAN via an SFP+ port, and a PCIe 4.0 x8 slot capable of supporting a low-profile card.
The Mini PC’s motherboard offers two SO-DIMM slots, supporting up to 96 GB of memory with speeds reaching 5200 MT/s. Connectivity is a strong suit here, with two USB 3.2 Gen Type-C ports, two USB 3.2 Gen 2, a USB 2.0, dual 10 GbE LAN ports, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.0, and DP+HDMI outputs ensuring versatile usage.
Meet the N5 PRO NAS
Rounding out the collection is the N5 PRO NAS, channeling Strix power with an AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 CPU. This setup features 12 cores and 24 threads, further enhanced by the Radeon 890M iGPU. The NAS design is user-friendly, allowing straightforward drive configuration with five tool-less 3.5-inch bays ready to handle up to 22 TB of HDD storage per bay.
Inside, it supports up to 48 GB of DDR5 SO-DIMMs, complemented by a PCIe 4.0 x4 slot for video interfaces. Also included are three PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots for diversified storage solutions, alongside Ethernet connectivity featuring both 10 GbE and 5 GbE ports, with a trio of USB 3.2 Gen1 ports rounding out the external interface options.
Minisforum plans to officially release these state-of-the-art solutions in the months to come, continuing to build anticipation among tech enthusiasts. Keep an eye out for further details as these innovative products move closer to market release.
