Treyarch has unveiled the eagerly anticipated “Shattered Veil” map for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’s Zombies mode, and here’s a pleasant surprise: you’ll be able to jump into the action a little earlier than planned.
Originally, fans were expecting the new content for Black Ops 6’s Season 3 to drop in late March, but Activision has moved things up on the calendar. Now, players can look forward to diving into both the multiplayer and Zombies modes on April 2nd. However, those itching to revisit Verdansk in Call of Duty: Warzone will have to be a bit more patient, as that release is still set for April 3rd.
The latest map, “Shattered Veil,” continues the thrilling Dark Aether narrative that’s been captivating players in Black Ops 6. Our intrepid crew, fresh off securing the Sentinel Artifact, finds themselves at a mysterious mansion nestled in the woods near Liberty Falls, West Virginia—a location that avid fans might recognize from the original Liberty Falls cinematic.
There’s plenty to sink your teeth into with the new map. You’ll be able to wield some creative tools like microwave traps ready to fry those undead foes and a Dark Aether Field Generator that can zap zombies into oblivion. Just make sure you don’t accidentally ’zap’ yourself in the process!
This intriguing mansion, complete with an eye-catching T-Rex skeleton, is just the start of what awaits in the Season 3 Zombies lineup. New challenges come in the form of enemies like the Elder Disciple, which hovers around the mansion, powering up its zombie minions. It can even transform regular zombies into fearsome Doppelghasts or other advanced threats.
Adding to the chaos are toxic zombies, shrouded in a ghastly fog, that might leave your heart racing. These speedy, sickly green creatures explode into puddles of acid upon defeat, providing an explosive twist for players.
Seasoned players will be thrilled with the return of the fan-favorite Double Tap perk-a-cola, known for its rapid-fire advantage since the Black Ops 3 days. It’s making a comeback via Der Wunderfizz machines and will be available on Shattered Veil alongside other maps with some exciting new augmentations to unlock.
Alongside these challenges is a fresh spin on some classic weaponry. Prepare for the Ray Gun Mark II, which now features a three-round burst. It’s also equipped with new variants that add diverse firing patterns, like SMG-style bursts and shotgun-like blasts. And let’s not forget the Wunderwaffe DG-2, which now offers electrifying chain-lightning blasts, leaving groups of zombies in a stunned state.
Fans can also enjoy some new Gobblegums to shake up gameplay. Tactical Diffusion, Support Group, and Die Pitched are set to spice up your loadout with their unique effects, whether it’s converting Nuke Power-Ups into Essence or giving zombies hilariously high-pitched voices.
The fun doesn’t stop there, as players can craft the returning Death Machine scorestreak in Zombies. Those looking to immerse themselves deeper into the Dark Aether storyline might want to hold out for the MidSeason refresh, bringing the Directed Mode to Shattered Veil along with a limited-time Team Cranked mode and a new Frost Blast field upgrade.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is already out on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC through Steam, Battle.net, the Microsoft Store, and the Xbox app. Plus, a free trial, including Zombies content, kicks off with Season 2 on April 2 at 9 AM PT for all platforms. Don’t want to wait for that? You can dive into the action right now on PC or Xbox with an Xbox Game Pass subscription.
