There have been countless attempts to merge elements from one Fallout game into another, but now, someone is taking on an even more unique challenge. They’re bringing the beloved Fallout: New Vegas into a world that might actually suit it better—the universe of The Sims 2. This fan project, called The Sims 2: New Vegas, highlights the creativity and passion of Fallout fans looking for something to do during downtime.
Baron Pulitzer, known online as FalloutPropMaster, is the mastermind behind this ambitious endeavor. With a background in independent film production, they have been diligently sharing their progress over the past week on a subreddit dedicated to this project. TheGamer was among the first to spot this intriguing crossover experiment.
In their introductory post, Pulitzer expressed a strong desire for a remastered version of Fallout: New Vegas. “I’ve been waiting impatiently for a remaster,” they mentioned. Their dream includes revisiting some of the cut content from the game’s beta phase—a part of the lore that fans find tantalizing. Discovering some mods of casinos from the New Vegas Strip on ModTheSims, crafted by user ‘lilipad,’ sparked Pulitzer’s imagination. Inspired, they embarked on the journey to recreate New Vegas within The Sims 2 framework. Despite having experience in modding Fallout 3 and New Vegas, modding The Sims was a new frontier for Pulitzer.
Over the past week, Pulitzer has dived into various nostalgic programs like Milkshape, FOMM, Blender, and Nifscope, finding both a sense of nostalgia and a fresh way to spend their free time. So far, they’ve sketched out the layout of their Mojave Wasteland neighborhood, complete with iconic locations such as The Strip and Freeside. One charming detail of their progress is the recreation of the Prospector Saloon in Goodsprings—because where else would one begin such a nostalgic recreation?
They’ve also been busy crafting characters. There are images featuring Vulpes Inculta in his signature Legion wolf hat, hanging out with some ghouls and engaging in a casual game of kickball. Another delightful touch is a household full of companions, likely reminiscing about their adventures with a certain mail carrier who tactically uses them as distractions while frantically using stimpaks.
Adding another layer of authenticity, Pulitzer has revamped The Sims 2 UI to give it a classic Fallout appearance. This unique project is certainly something to watch, especially if you’re diving back into The Sims 2 via the Legacy Collection remaster. It might just fill that itch to revisit the Mojave Wasteland, even if that means harboring slightly sinister plans for Mr. House or finding unconventional routes to independence in Vegas.
