Imagine this: you’re getting an exclusive peak behind the scenes of a movie set, and you don’t even have to leave your seat. Yes, that’s right. You’re about to explore the set of a blockbuster film right from where you’re sitting, and guess what? Eli Roth, the director himself, is going to guide you through it all.
We’re thrilled to share some seriously awesome footage from the set of the anticipated Borderlands movie adaptation. Thanks to a collaboration with Light Sail VR, Eli Roth has captured some jaw-dropping moments on set featuring stars like Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart, and Ariana Greenblatt. Although the footage shines brightest in virtual reality, it’s equally impressive in 2D.
Roth is a longtime VR enthusiast, having tinkered with a GoPro 360 since 2018. He shared, “During the pandemic, it was tough to have set visits, so I wanted fans to get a taste of the Borderlands world right from the set. You can see our incredible Budapest art department’s work, hang out with the cast during action rehearsals, and watch Cate Blanchett and Ariana Greenblatt defy gravity as they leap from a moving truck bed. Teaming up with my pals at Light Sail VR, we’ve crafted an immersive experience that puts you smack-dab in the midst of the action. It captures the zest and thrill of being on set with our Borderlands crew.”
Sounds thrilling, right?
In the film Borderlands, Cate Blanchett plays a renowned bounty hunter returning to her home planet, Pandora, with a mission: to find the missing daughter of the villainous Atlas, played by Edgar Ramírez. Along this gripping journey, she unites with an eclectic band of characters to tackle one of the planet’s greatest enigmas. The stellar cast also includes Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Ariana Greenblatt, Florian Munteanu, Gina Gershon, and Jamie Lee Curtis. Mark your calendars for its release on August 9.
