Over the past year, we’ve been thrilled to witness the surge in player support and engagement for the Xbox app on Windows PC. Today, we’re excited to announce that the new Home experience, which we’ve been perfecting with the help of Xbox Insiders, is now available to everyone using the Xbox app on Windows. This update makes it easier and quicker for players to locate their favorite games and discover exciting new titles.
The Home tab is your hub for catching up on all things gaming. It features highlighted content to ensure players stay informed on game releases, the latest events, Game Pass offerings, special promotions, and more. Plus, the app has introduced curated collections, personalized recommendations, and awesome deals, along with the “Jump back in” feature. This handy tool allows players in Compact Mode to dive right back into their game from where they left off by simply clicking on any game card.
The Xbox app isn’t just for accessing the fantastic selection of Game Pass titles; it’s also proving to be a fantastic platform for discovering great Xbox games that aren’t part of the Game Pass subscription.
Starting this summer, we’ve partnered with game developers to bring a wider selection of PC games with Xbox features to the app. We’re eagerly anticipating seeing what new Xbox games become available on Windows PC from various creators in the future. As a first step, we’re delighted to welcome around 400 titles that were previously hard to find or buy in the app.
Among these new additions are numerous games from esteemed Japanese studios, Kemco and Kairosoft. Players can also enjoy titles like “Shovel Knight Treasure Trove” by Yacht Club, “The Jackbox Party Pack,” “The Invincible” by Double 11, and several others.
It’s worth noting that over 100 of these newly available games are Xbox Play Anywhere titles, allowing players who purchase the Xbox console version to also play on their PC, and vice versa. Features like universal Xbox ownership, cloud saves, and cross-play between console, PC, and potentially other platforms (based on developers’ preferences) are highly appreciated by the gaming community.
With the expansion of the Windows handheld gaming sector, developers have a remarkable opportunity to connect with both current and future gamers. This capability offers players the flexibility to enjoy the games they love with their friends, no matter where they are.
For developers of newly added titles, if your game supports cross-entitlements, make sure this is detailed in your game’s capabilities section. This helps us spread the word about what your games offer!
