I completely missed the boat when “Yes, Your Grace” first came out in 2020. But recently, I found myself engrossed in it on my phone, plowing through the entire game in just one evening. My only gripe? It left me wanting more. Luckily, its much-anticipated sequel, “Yes, Your Grace: Snowfall,” is just about to make its debut. Even better, there’s a free demo available right now as part of Steam Next Fest, packed with decisions that really make you ponder your morality.
“Snowfall” takes up the story where “Yes, Your Grace” left off, offering a brief animated recap for those who didn’t play the original. The first game centered around a king juggling his royal duties and trying to ensure a secure future for his realm. Many of those key storylines transition smoothly into the sequel. You can either let the game pick a default storyline for you or carry over your decisions from the first game, if that’s what you prefer.
The core gameplay of “Snowfall” mirrors its predecessor. You’ll have a weekly audience with citizens, foreign envoys, and even your own family members, all presenting you with their dilemmas. Solving these issues effectively will typically require different resources—be it money, effort, influence, or something else entirely.
This time around, “Snowfall” takes decision-making a notch higher. While in the original game, resources were somewhat abstract, you can now mix and combine items or deploy agents with unique skills to address the challenges. This adds another layer of strategy—you’ll have more options, but it also means you need to be more strategic about resource management.
Decisions aren’t always life-or-death, but the game quickly teaches you that almost every choice, no matter how trivial, comes with consequences down the line.
In addition to continuing the original storyline, “Snowfall” introduces a survival mode. It’s not expected to be ready for launch, but you can give it a whirl in the demo. This mode drops the ongoing narrative, challenging you to maintain balance in your kingdom for as long as possible.
As for when “Yes, Your Grace: Snowfall” will officially release, there’s no specific date yet, but it’s penciled in for a Q1 2025 release on Windows PC, macOS, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox. Meanwhile, I wholeheartedly encourage you to take the demo for a spin. And if you haven’t yet played the original game, now’s the perfect time.
