Hey everyone! I’m Juan Martinez, the executive producer over at Fatshark and part of the crew behind Warhammer 40,000: Darktide. I’m thrilled to welcome all the PlayStation enthusiasts to dive into the intense, grimdark world we’ve meticulously crafted for you.
Starting today, those who’ve pre-ordered the Imperial Edition of Darktide on PS5 can jump right in. Mark your calendars because December 3rd is when the doors open to all PS5 players! We can’t wait for you all to explore what we’ve got in store.
Having launched on PC back in November 2022, we’ve been hard at work expanding and refining Darktide. Over this past year, we’ve rolled out nine major additions and over 25 updates to enhance your experience. The PS5 debut synchronizes perfectly with our 10th major free update, Grim Protocols, and there’s so much more to look forward to in the coming years!
### Fast-paced Combat, Fatshark Style
Creating a game in the Warhammer 40,000 universe has been a long-held dream, and Darktide brings that vision to life. This four-player co-op action game casts you as a convict conscript, or “Reject,” tasked with reclaiming the city of Tertium from the forces of Chaos. Mastering both melee and ranged combat is crucial, and we’ve poured significant effort into perfecting this hybrid system.
### Warhammer 40,000: Darktide Comes to PS5 and PS5 Pro
Bringing Darktide to the PS5 involved a commitment to providing a stellar gaming experience. We’ve specifically tailored the game to take full advantage of PS5’s hardware. Players can choose between Performance mode, offering a smooth 60FPS at 1440p, and Quality mode, with stunning 30FPS at 4K. If you’re using a PS5 Pro, get ready for seamless gameplay at 60FPS in 4K thanks to PSSR technology.
We’ve also fully embraced the PS5’s DualSense controller, putting considerable effort into its adaptive triggers and haptic feedback. Each weapon in Darktide—from the explosive Boltgun to the precise Lasgun or psionic Force Staff—aims to bring a unique feel, responding dynamically to your play.
Feel the power of automatic weapons with the DualSense controller’s haptic feedback and trigger effects. The shaking triggers mimic each shot’s recoil, and as your ammo count dwindles, the intensity ramps up, keeping you on your toes. Carving through heretics with a Chainsword has never felt more viscerally satisfying. We’re eager to hear what you think when these features launch on December 3rd.
### Unlock Your Potential
To make you truly feel a part of Tertium, we’ve expanded the character customization options. You can fine-tune every aspect of your Reject, from class and appearance to backstory and voice, allowing you to engage with the world on a personal level.
Each class boasts a detailed talent tree for you to tailor your combat style across three primary domains and their subclasses. Plus, our overhauled Itemization system lets you develop expertise across more than 40 weapon families, enhancing your strategic choices.
### An Ever-evolving Game
As December 3rd approaches, not only will Darktide land on PlayStation, but we’ll also drop our 10th major update: Grim Protocols. Here’s a sneak peek at what’s coming your way!
One highlight is a brand-new endgame mode called Havoc, where seasoned players will face their toughest challenges yet. But mastering Tertium’s trials is your first task.
There’s a fresh mission joining our roster of 20+ challenges, set in the infamous Carnival—a spot known for its dubious distractions and exciting diversions.
Additionally, we’re introducing three new weapon families. These include the mighty Two-Handed Force and Power Swords, as well as the formidable Ogryn Heavy Stubber, perfect for tearing through waves of foes.
Keep your eyes peeled for our official PS5 updates as we continue to add new content through 2025. Warhammer 40,000: Darktide officially launches on PS5 on December 3rd. Welcome to Tertium, Rejects—brace yourselves for the trials ahead. For the Emperor!
