Dark Math Games recently made headlines by securing a major investment in the seven-figure range. As reported by GI.biz, this studio—established by some of the former team members of the Disco Elysium creators at ZA/UM—has obtained the funding they need to move forward with their inaugural project, XXX Nightshift. The investment comes from Estonia’s MM Grupp, a financial powerhouse that also backed Disco Elysium.
Kaur Kender, a co-founder of the studio and former executive producer for Disco Elysium, expressed his excitement about the partnership. “It’s fantastic to have an investor on board who truly understands and values both the art world and the video game industry,” Kender remarked. “The support from MM Grupp gives us the stability and long-term vision we need. We’ve achieved great things together in the past, and we’re confident we can do it again.”
Kristel Volver, the CEO of MM Grupp, chimed in with her own thoughts. “The team at Dark Math has an impressive track record, and their creative ideas for the new game are both ambitious and fascinating,” she said.
Dark Math Games is one of several new studios popping up, led by former ZA/UM talent. Another notable example is Summer Eternal, established by Argo Tuulik, who previously contributed his writing skills to Disco Elysium.
