Cyberpunk 2077 to Feature Nvidia DLSS Tech on Switch 2

As the gaming world eagerly awaits the arrival of Nintendo Switch 2, CD Projekt Red has stirred excitement by confirming that its Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition will harness Nvidia’s cutting-edge DLSS upscaling technology, enhancing both handheld and docked gameplay modes. For fans anxiously tracking this launch, the news introduces enticing features: there will be a quality mode aiming for 30 frames per second (fps) and a performance setting targeting 40 fps, aided by variable refresh rate displays.

This announcement comes hot on the heels of Nintendo’s proactive preparations for the Switch 2 release. Despite initial hiccups with pre-order delays in the U.S. and Canada due to tariffs, Nintendo has poised itself to commence pre-orders on April 24 at major retailers like Best Buy and GameStop. While the console and its games have evaded price hikes, accessories such as the Pro Controller have nudged slightly upward in price.

With its enhanced Nvidia processor, the Switch 2 affords game developers more leeway in utilizing high-end features like DLSS, boosting performance quality across the board. CD Projekt Red’s confirmation, as reported by Nintendo Life and detailed by Digital Foundry, promises four versatile upscaling options for players. Whether opting for the Quality or Performance modes, users will experience varied fps outputs depending on the console’s mode – docked or handheld.

Featuring Nvidia DLSS in both docking arrangements, Cyberpunk 2077 will run at 1080p in quality modes and switch up to 720p in handheld performance mode. Richard Leadbetter from Digital Foundry shared that docked quality mode will achieve 30 fps at 1080p, while the performance version aims for 40 fps at the same resolution on screens equipped for 120 Hz refresh rates. Although the Switch 2 won’t leverage Nvidia’s newer DLSS 4, it will still fully utilize what’s compatible with its custom Tegra processor.

Adding to the roster of major titles launching on the Switch 2, Cyberpunk 2077 is scheduled to join by June 5.
