Sony recently rolled out the PS Plus lineup for December 2024, coinciding with PlayStation’s 30th anniversary. However, the reveal left many gamers wishing for more. Among the games in the upcoming month’s Essential package is a title that was taken off PS Plus Extra earlier this year, meaning many subscribers might have just played it not too long ago.
In a nod to the milestone anniversary, fans hoped for a more impressive set of offerings. Instead, December’s PS Plus monthly games include It Takes Two, Aliens: Dark Descent, and Temtem. It Takes Two, notably, was part of PS Plus Extra until its removal earlier this year.
Comments from the PS Blog, gaming forums, and social media echo a similar sentiment—not that the games themselves are poor choices, but the selection feels lackluster for such a significant anniversary. As one subscriber pointed out, “This is one of the most corporate and uncaring attempts at an anniversary, especially a 30th, that I have ever seen.” Another chimed in saying, “I had to speak up today just to share how disappointing this is. Usually, I steer clear of voicing dissatisfaction on blogs, but this is atrocious.”
As for the full PS Plus Extra and Premium lineup for December 2024, details remain under wraps. However, Premium members can look forward to three classic fan-favorites and a new game trial, which should hopefully lift their spirits.
