Bungie just unveiled some exciting details about its upcoming shooter, “Marathon,” giving fans a real glimpse into what the game has to offer. Set to launch on September 23rd, 2025, the game will be available on Xbox Series X and Series S.
In “Marathon,” players take on the role of Runners—essentially cyber-enhanced mercenaries, each boasting their own unique set of skills. The objective is to team up with two other players to tackle challenges together. As you dive into the action, you’ll face hostile AI security forces and rival Runner teams in your quest to gather weapons, implants, and other gear. The loot you manage to secure is yours to keep for subsequent runs, assuming you make it out alive.
For those who enjoy a solo challenge, you can still jump into the fray alone, taking on the threats by yourself and making off with whatever you manage to collect. The primary goal is to get in, grab as much loot as you can, and then make a clean escape.
Up top, you can catch the reveal trailer for “Marathon,” while a more extensive Gameplay Overview Trailer is available further down. Although we are still in the early stages, the initial glimpses are promising and have piqued our interest.
While the game’s full release is a while off, eager players won’t have to wait too long to get a taste. A Closed Alpha is set to begin on April 23rd, and you can sign up through the official Marathon Discord server.
