Bigscreen has just lifted the curtain on its newest advancement in the world of PC VR headsets. Their latest models, Beyond 2 and Beyond 2e, are setting a new benchmark for both clarity and field-of-view, thanks to revamped pancake lenses. Designed with both home and business environments in mind, these sleek, lightweight headsets feature an adjustable interpupillary distance (IPD) and come with a versatile Lightseal facial interface, adding to their appeal.
The two versions differentiate themselves in a subtle yet impactful way. The Beyond 2e, unlike Apple’s ‘e’ tag for its iPhone 16e focusing on affordability, points to its eye-tracking capabilities. This model includes a compact eye-tracking suite that uses AI-powered computer vision for quick, secure tracking and is integrated with platforms like SteamVR, OpenXR, and VRChat. They’re even rolling out a beta program by summer 2025.
You’ll find Beyond 2 priced at $1,019 and Beyond 2e at $1,219. However, for those loyal users who purchased the original Beyond, Bigscreen is offering discounts, bringing the prices down to $849 and $1,049 for the new iterations.
Eager consumers can look forward to the first batch launching in April, with an option to purchase a halo-style mount in the third quarter of 2025. Both models will offer a splash of style with color choices in Carbon Black, Crystal Clear, and Nuclear Orange.
The headset maintains its commitment to the SteamVR tracking standard, supporting both its 1.0 and 2.0 base stations along with a plethora of SteamVR accessories. Before diving into this new VR experience, though, make sure your PC is up to the task.
In terms of visuals, the Beyond 2 sticks to the same 1-inch 2,560 × 2,560 micro-OLED displays as its predecessor, launched in 2023. Yet, it takes a giant leap with its new lens technology, expanding the field-of-view from 102 degrees to a substantial 116-degree diagonal. What’s more, it sheds weight, now tipping the scales at just 107 grams, a far cry from heftier models like the Meta Quest 3.
Despite retaining the same displays, Bigscreen has amped up brightness and reduced glare, crediting this to the improved lens design that offers superior edge-to-edge clarity and an expansive sweet spot.
For the first time, users can enjoy the benefit of an adjustable IPD. Users can tweak the IPD setting using a provided tool, with clear indicators inside the headset showing precise millimeter adjustments. This is a marked enhancement from Beyond 1’s system, which involved choosing among 18 fixed sizes and using an iPhone to scan for a custom fit.
On the accessory front, while Beyond 2 is still compatible with cushions from its predecessor, the included Lightseal interface offers a universal fit, appealing to both individual owners who value ease of sharing and enterprise users alike.
The headset supports a range of accessories, from the original’s five-meter fiber optic cable to newer options like the halo-style mount, inspired by night vision goggles, available later in 2025. This mount allows for detailed adjustments and works well with various strap solutions, including Bigscreen’s own and third-party choices.
Shipping from its Los Angeles base, Bigscreen is opening orders to a wide international audience, covering countries such as the US, Canada, UK, Japan, and more. The company is also eyeing expansions into South Korea, Mexico, Israel, and the UAE later in the year.
