Kluge Interactive, known for the popular VR rhythm game Synth Riders, is gearing up to launch their latest venture, Final Fury. This virtual reality fighting game is set to hit early access for Quest and SteamVR headsets next month.
Scheduled for release on May 8, Final Fury brings classic arcade-style combat to the VR space, allowing players to engage in one-on-one battles using an intuitive gesture-based control system. The game is compatible with Quest 2 and above, as well as PC VR headsets.
With input from well-known nine-time EVO champion Justin Wong, the game combines hand gestures and room-scale movement. Players can take on the role of six different fighters, each equipped with their own set of moves and settings. There are plans to expand this lineup as the game develops further.
“When Kluge Interactive reached out about Final Fury, I was intrigued by how they wanted to blend traditional fighting mechanics with a VR first-person view,” Wong remarked. “I had the chance to playtest features like dashes and grabs, and I’m eager to see how players react once it goes live in Early Access.”
Upon its debut, the game offers a number of exciting features:
- Fully immersive VR fighting, where real punches, dodges, and blocks bring you face-to-face with opponents.
- Classic fighter mechanics are given a new twist for engaging physical gameplay.
- A growing lineup of fighters, featuring unique abilities, stages, and styles.
- Single-player arcade mode lets you unlock new characters, environments, and cosmetics.
- Cross-platform online multiplayer with rollback netcode ensures smooth and competitive gameplay.
- A dynamic soundtrack from Zardonic, known for his work on SUPERHOT: MCD, sets the tone.
You can add Final Fury to your wishlist on the Horizon Store for Quest 2 and above, or on Steam for PC VR headsets. It will be available starting May 8 for $9.99.
