This is not a test run—exciting news from 2XKO has emerged on social media that’s ramping up the anticipation for this month. While the news might just be an announcement for an upcoming development update video, it sets the stage for a deep dive into the game, Jinx, and the new Alpha Lab testing phase that’s just around the corner.
Who’s the bearer of this exciting information? None other than Ben Forbes, the editor-in-chief at 2XKO. He took to Twitter, announcing, “We just wrapped up filming the next 2XKO update! The video is currently in the editing, production, and localization stages, but here’s what you can look forward to: An in-depth look at the gameplay changes since Alpha Lab 1 (including Jinx!), context and details for Alpha Lab 2, and a special showmatch featuring the dev team.”
In his tweet, Ben also mentioned, “It’s quite a comprehensive update, so the video is on the longer side—probably around an hour? We’re aiming to release it by the last week of March. We haven’t yet graduated to the world of PowerPoint livestreams, but maybe one day…”
Don’t get too carried away, though, as Ben clarified that there won’t be any new character reveals in this update. So it’s best not to place any bets just yet.
Last year, the 2XKO team signed off with a “See you next year” note, promising new updates in February. However, things took a slight turn when game director Shaun Rivera hopped on Twitter to discuss some changes. These adjustments involved a tweak in the scope of the upcoming Alpha Labs test along with a new game component.
It seems internal timelines at Riot, paired with revised plans for the Alpha Lab tests, led to the February update being bumped to this month. Nonetheless, with the game still slated for release this year, it’s promising to finally get a comprehensive update on the current happenings, ongoing developments, and potential future appearances of 2XKO in the real world.
