Schell Games, in collaboration with Innersloth, has revealed an exciting update for Among Us VR (2022) by announcing that flatscreen support is on the way. This development means VR enthusiasts and PC players can now join forces, thanks to the introduction of crossplay capabilities.
A notable change on the horizon is the rebranding of the VR game to Among Us 3D, bringing a fresh first-person perspective to those playing on PC for the very first time. Schell Games has assured fans that Among Us 3D will facilitate cross-platform matchmaking, allowing seamless interaction between players on various devices, including Quest, SteamVR, PSVR 2, and Pico headsets.
However, it’s important to mention that Among Us 3D won’t be able to connect with the classic 2D game from 2018. The two have been separate since Among Us VR launched back in November 2022, and that will continue to be the case.
Ryan Hall, the Project Director at Schell Games, shared his enthusiasm, saying, “With Among Us 3D, we’re thrilled to bring a first-person perspective to an even wider audience. By bridging the gap between VR and PC players, we’re creating more opportunities for players to enjoy the betrayal and chaos the game is known for. It’s a chance for your entire crew to get involved.”
This exciting rebrand is set to roll out over the coming months, with updates impacting everything from store pages to website graphics and in-game visuals. Among Us 3D also plans to introduce a new in-game currency, dubbed ‘Stardust’. This currency is expected to allow players to purchase cosmetic items, which will help support the game’s further development.
While there’s no official launch date yet, fans might not have to wait too long. Among Us 3D will be part of the upcoming Steam Next Fest, offering players a sneak peek with an exclusive early demo ahead of its official release.
