2XKO plans to introduce an offline mode where all champions will be pre-unlocked, a feature designed specifically to ease the lives of grassroots tournament organizers. This decision aims to assist those keen on hosting events without the hassle of unlocking each champion via multiple accounts.
This exciting news came to light during a community tour in France earlier in the month. During a lively Q&A session, 2XKO’s executive producer, Tom Cannon, openly discussed the upcoming feature. Initially hesitant about sharing details, he ultimately decided to reveal the plans with enthusiasm.
“It’s definitely a bit of a chore setting up everything for a tournament,” Cannon remarked. “We want the process to be straightforward—no internet needed, no jumping through hoops just to access all champions.”
For tournament organizers, this announcement is indeed a game changer. By eliminating the need for an internet connection, organizers can focus on the event itself without worrying about connectivity issues or additional costs for internet access over multiple days. Furthermore, the convenience of having all characters available from the start saves them the tedious task of unlocking content across numerous accounts.
There’s interest in how this offline mode will work alongside Riot Games’ Vanguard Anti-Cheat system, known for its always-online requirements. Vanguard’s deep integration within systems means it typically can’t be turned off when running Riot Games titles, raising questions about potential conflicts.
We’ve reached out to Riot Games for clarification on this but have not yet received an update.
Despite these uncertainties, this feature is bound to excite dedicated players eager to participate in live events. However, this mode might not be for everyone. Given that 2XKO operates on a free-to-play model, it’s likely this feature will be reserved for verified tournament organizers, helping them deliver seamless in-person competitions.
As we await more details, we’d love to hear your thoughts. What are your views on this offline mode? Share your opinion with us!
