ILM and Lucasfilm unveiled some exciting gameplay today for their upcoming title, Star Wars: Beyond Victory – A Mixed Reality Playset, designed for the Quest 3. This game promises a captivating blend of virtual and mixed reality experiences.
Teaming up with Meta, they offered eager fans a first look at the game during the Star Wars Celebration 2025, held from April 18-20 in Tokyo, Japan. As part of this event, attendees caught a glimpse of the gameplay through an enticing teaser.
Currently in development, Star Wars: Beyond Victory is set around the timeline of Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018). When it officially hits the Quest 3 and 3S, players can look forward to three unique modes.
The game features a compelling VR and MR storyline following podracer ‘Volo’. Additionally, an arcade mode introduces mini-podracing on a mixed reality holotable, and there’s a ‘playset’ mode. This latter mode lets players adorn their physical space with an impressive array of virtual action figures and vehicles, which they can unlock as they progress.
“We’re labeling it a Playset because it offers more than just gameplay; it redefines how fans can immerse themselves in the Star Wars universe and the intricate worlds we craft at ILM,” explained Alyssa Finley, the game’s Executive Producer. “This experience skillfully integrates the physical and digital dimensions in an unprecedented manner, and we’re thrilled to give the Star Wars community an exclusive sneak peek.”
If you’re attending the event at Makuhari Messe in Tokyo starting this Friday, don’t miss the chance to try out Star Wars: Beyond Victory firsthand. Head over to the ILM and Meta Quest booth in Hall 4, Booth #20-5. They’ll also have demo stations featuring their other XR titles like Vader Immortal and Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge.
While no release date has been announced yet, fans can expect details to gradually emerge as we approach launch day. Keep your eyes peeled for more updates!
