Riot Games recently unveiled the name and details of their upcoming trading card game set in the beloved League of Legends universe: Riftbound: League of Legends Trading Card Game. This new addition to the Runeterra-based games, which also include League of Legends and Arcane, promises to bring a fresh dimension to the tabletop genre. The game will debut with an impressive collection of over 300 cards in its Origins set. Fans in China can expect the launch this summer, with English-speaking regions slated to receive the game on October 25, according to a statement from Riot.
Riftbound offers various ways to play, whether you prefer a direct face-off with one opponent, team up with a friend for 2v2, or dive into a more chaotic free-for-all. Drawing parallels to Legends of Runeterra, this game also features champions as central power cards, around which players can strategy, crafting their decks with supporting cards. Notably, pre-constructed Champion Decks will come with 56 cards centered around fan-favorite characters like Viktor, Jinx, and Lee Sin. Many other champions, including Annie, Garen, Lux, Master Yi, Volibear, and Yasuo, will also make their appearances. Additionally, players will find cards with in-game items, runes, and spells, providing a deep and strategic experience. The artwork on the official site teases appearances by popular champions Kai’Sa and Ahri as well.
For those looking to dive in, there are a couple of purchase options: the Riftbound: Proving Grounds boxed set, which offers several starter decks, or individual 14-card booster packs. Riot has teamed up with UVS Games for distribution to ensure Riftbound is readily available in stores. If your local game store stocks the UniVersus Collectible Card Game, which features characters from popular series like Attack on Titan and Critical Role, you’ll likely find Riftbound there as well.
