The Video Game History Foundation has just rolled out the early access version of their digital library of research materials. Even at this initial stage, the library boasts more than 1,500 text-searchable video game magazines that are out of print. Many of these are hard to come by for the public. Additionally, it features previously unpublished game development materials, artwork, press kits, promotional items, and much more.
For a closer look, you can explore the library at Library.GameHistory.Org.
Among the highlights of the launch are the Mark Flitman collection and the Cyan collection. In fact, NWR previously accessed a portion of the Mark Flitman collection to aid in creating our 30th-anniversary Star Fox documentary and our in-depth exploration of Dylan Cuthbert’s Eclipse demo, both of which we crafted in collaboration with the Video Game History Foundation. On the other hand, the Cyan collection offers over 100 hours of footage chronicling the production of the Myst series.
