February 2025 might not be when we’re all eagerly expecting a flood of major video game launches—especially since one big title has already been postponed. Yet, a delightful surprise awaits with the introduction of “Keep Driving,” a quirky driving RPG that’s sure to pique interest. In this game, you’ll engage in turn-based combat while collecting various items along your journey.
For those who haven’t heard of this whimsical title, I had the chance to explore its demo during last year’s Steam Next Fest. Let’s just say I only succumbed to a puddle once! The game revolves around a road trip to a friend’s house. As you traverse this journey, both you and your trusty vehicle face the usual road trip obstacles, along with the basic human needs of food and sleep.
Exciting news—Keep Driving is set to launch its full version on February 6 on Steam for PC. This announcement came courtesy of YCJY Games, the Swedish developers behind the game, who tweeted the news with flair.
Accompanying the announcement is a fresh trailer showcasing turn-based car battles against tractors, sheep, and those pesky potholes. It also highlights a selection of additional vehicles you can cram with essentials for yourself, your car, and any hitchhikers you pick up along the way. During the demo, I drove a car reminiscent of a Volvo, but I have to admit, the allure of cruising in a pickup truck taps into my inner Johnny Cash enthusiast.
While for now, Keep Driving is exclusive to PC, one of the developers hinted at potential console versions in the future. They’re not entirely certain about which consoles just yet, except for the Switch. I can’t help but dream of a PS2 version, allowing me to seamlessly switch between this and Need For Speed Underground.
As we anticipate the full release, I’m hopeful that “Keep Driving” will amplify the delightful vibes that first captured my attention.
