In an ongoing battle against cheaters, Activision has taken a significant step by banning over 136,000 players who were caught cheating in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone. For those immersed in the competitive mode and grinding through achievements, this might seem like just scratching the surface. However, it’s a welcome move for fans of this Xbox first-person shooter who are keen to enjoy fair gameplay.
Activision’s Anti-Cheat Strategy for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone 2.0
Activision has made a significant push against cheaters, eliminating over 136,000 offenders from its ranks, all thanks to the new Ricochet anti-cheat systems. These systems have been refined to catch infamous aim botters and other persistent rule-breakers. Notably, the Ricochet team has put in place tracking models that target serial cheaters and even warn against accounts frequently playing with cheaters for benefits.
The company is clear that false reporting doesn’t align with their Security and Enforcement policies. So, despite what some cheat developers claim, hitting the report button numerous times or using shady tools to flood thousands of reports won’t work. The system only acknowledges a single report per player to keep it fair.
As we look ahead, the launch of Call of Duty Season 2 on January 28 promises the rollout of enhanced client and server detection systems. Activision is also planning a significant update to their kernel-level driver, beefing up security further with a reinforced encryption process. In the more distant future, the developers hint at even more technical innovations, including a fresh system to verify authentic players and pinpoint cheaters, set to debut in Season 3.
If the barrage of cheaters in Ranked mode has put you off competitive play in Black Ops 6, there’s a silver lining. Activision is set to offer console players an option to disable cross-play with PCs for Ranked matches sometime in Season 2. Although this feature won’t immediately extend to standard modes, it’s definitely a step in the right direction.
