The European gaming scene is buzzing with excitement as the “Super Smash Bros. Ultimate European Online Challenge: Winter Clash 2024” gears up to take the virtual stage. Hosted on the versatile Nintendo Switch, this competition brings Super Smash Bros. Ultimate enthusiasts together for a friendly showdown operated by none other than Nintendo of Europe SE, headquartered in Frankfurt, Germany.
Mark your calendars for Friday, December 6th! The competition kicks off at 18:00 CET, or 17:00 UK time, and runs until 20:00 CET (19:00 UK time). Gamers residing in Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom are all welcome to dive into the fray. However, if you’re from outlying areas like the Azores or the Svalbard archipelago, the geographical distance might pose a challenge to participation.
Ready to get in the game? Here’s what you’ll need: a Nintendo Account set to any of the eligible countries and an active Nintendo Switch Online membership will get you started. Your membership status, whether it’s paid or a free trial, doesn’t matter. Just ensure you’ve got access to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on your Nintendo Switch. To jump into the tournament, navigate through the main menu, select “Online”, then head to “Official Tourney Qualifiers”. And voilà, you’re in!
In this event, your goal is to snag the highest possible Tourney score, a unique rating system exclusive to these special tournaments. This score is calculated based on your match results and the relative skill of your opponents. Feel free to track this score within the game anytime during the event. To boost your ranking, participate in as many matches as you can during the event timeframe. Even if a match wraps up after the event period, it still counts towards your score.
What’s in it for the winners? The top 10 players boasting the highest Tourney scores will each earn a whopping 2,500 My Nintendo Gold Points. But don’t fret if you’re slightly off the top 10; those rounding out the top 100 still snag 1,000 Gold Points each. Keep in mind, any change in your country settings to a non-participating nation before receiving your prize will lead to disqualification. And fair play is crucial—cheating or exploiting bugs isn’t tolerated and could result in account suspension or worse. Remember, prizes are non-transferable and aren’t available as cash alternatives.
Expect your prizes to land in your Nintendo Account within two weeks following the event’s conclusion. Check the My Nintendo Point Log to confirm delivery once you’re signed in.
Don’t forget, all of this is underpinned by the Nintendo Account Agreement, Nintendo Account Privacy Policy, and the My Nintendo Rewards Programme Terms.
Ready your controllers and dive in—good luck, challengers!
