Last week, the long-awaited horror-shooter, Alien: Rogue Incursion (2024), dropped, but it came with a little surprise in the form of a ‘Part One’ label. Initially, players were left wondering if this meant the game was released in segments. However, rest assured, you’re not getting just a slice of the pie. Instead, consider it a teaser for more gaming goodness on the way.
When Alien: Rogue Incursion launched for PC VR and PSVR 2, the ‘Part One’ tag left many scratching their heads. Was this a complete game or merely the beginning of an episodic series? After diving into the review, we can confirm that the eight-hour gameplay stands as a complete experience of its own. We gave it a strong 7 out of 10, appreciating its immersive environments and heart-pounding encounters with packs of Xenomorphs. However, it did have its downsides, such as repetitive enemies and a challenging save system.
Survios has since clarified the situation on X, explaining that the ‘Part One’ label wasn’t meant to confuse anyone. They assure players that they have not chopped up the game unnecessarily. Though the standalone adventure concludes with a cliffhanger, it’s merely the first chapter of a two-part saga. The encouraging news is that Part Two is already in the works, promising even “deadlier enemies and more difficult challenges.” That’s music to the ears of many fans.
In the meantime, we’re eagerly awaiting the game’s release on Quest, scheduled to arrive on Quest 3/3S on February 13, 2025. This delay could be attributed to the game’s intricate, dynamically loading levels, detailed textures, and an abundance of physics-based interactions. These features likely necessitated a bit more development time.
Survios released a statement addressing the community’s concerns:
> Dear Alien: Rogue Incursion community,
>
> We’ve received a significant amount of feedback regarding the ‘Part One’ mention in the game’s opening moments, achievement lists, and store pages. It was never our intention to mislead or confuse players about the nature of this game. We now see how ‘Part One’ might be interpreted in various ways.
>
> Part One is a standalone adventure that wraps up in a cliffhanger. We wanted to let fans know more is coming, which is why we announced Part Two during the launch. The Survios team, being fans of the Alien universe, is excited to continue telling stories about Zula, Davis, and others.
>
> Although we have no additional announcements about Part Two at this moment, rest assured it’s actively being developed. We’ll be sharing exciting updates with you in the future.
>
> We deeply appreciate your enthusiasm and passion for Alien: Rogue Incursion, and we hope you enjoy exploring Purdan and Castor’s Cradle as much as we relished creating them.
