Were you eagerly marking your calendar for the Star Wars Skeleton Crew premiere on Disney Plus on December 3rd? Well, it’s time to adjust those plans slightly. Disney has decided to bump up the launch date just a tad.
In an unexpected yet exciting move, Disney announced yesterday that Skeleton Crew will now debut a full day earlier, landing on screens on December 2nd. While it might seem like a small tweak, only Disney knows what’s behind this seemingly random shift. But who’s complaining? The good news doesn’t stop there. When Skeleton Crew finally drops, it’ll kick off with a double-episode premiere. So, if the first episode reels you in, you won’t be left hanging for long. Disney also rolled out the list of directors helming each of the show’s eight episodes, and there are some intriguing names to note.
Starting us off is Jon Watts, famed for the Tom Holland Spider-Man movies, and he’s also steering the ship for the final episode. Next up is David Lowery, who has a varied filmography including last year’s Peter Pan & Wendy and more weighty films like The Green Knight and A Ghost Story. He’ll be directing the second and third episodes. Episode four is in the hands of The Daniels, Oscar winners famed for the 2022 hit Everything Everywhere All at Once. Jake Schreier, known for his work on the upcoming Marvel film Thunderbolts, takes the reins for episode five.
Episode six sees Bryce Dallas Howard stepping in, bringing her Star Wars experience from The Mandalorian to the forefront. Then there’s Lee Isaac Chung, who not only worked on The Mandalorian but also directed this year’s blockbuster Twisters, taking charge for the seventh episode.
Skeleton Crew’s storyline teases an adventure of “four kids who stumble upon a mysterious find on their seemingly safe home planet, only to become lost in a strange and perilous galaxy. Their trip back home, filled with surprising allies and foes, promises to be a grand adventure beyond what they ever imagined.” With Jude Law leading the cast, expect a Spielberg-esque adventure vibe throughout.
So gear up for an adventurous journey that’s arriving a day earlier than you thought – and let the countdown to December 2nd begin!
